Numbers 10:5-6 —When ye blow an alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall go forward. When ye blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys.
The trumpet is used in scripture to announce the appearance of royalty and/or the embarking upon a journey!
The voice of the archangel will summon the dead from their graves. The saints of God who are alive will be caught up to meet Jesus in the air. This is the picture of the rapture of the church as described in scripture.
Some preachers and teachers attack the teaching of the rapture by saying it’s not in the Bible. It is true that the word rapture does not appear in scripture. But he Bible very clearly describes this “catching away,” which is what the word rapture means.
The Bible is a book of concepts described in word pictures. Pseudointellectuals sit around pretending they cannot understand the word of God because their cerebral cortex is endowed with such magnificence, when the Bible paints word pictures so simple a child can grasp them completely.
When the trump of God announces the appearance of the King of Kings, the true church, the body of Christ, will rise to meet him in the air. When the voice of the archangel summons the dead from their graves, cemeteries will explode all over the earth. Mausoleums will topple and gravestones will roll as the righteous occupants of those graves leave their dusty couches to meet the Lord in the clouds of heaven.
Empty cars with their motors still running will be scattered along the highways because their drivers abandoned the asphalt jungles of the cities for the goldplated streets of New Jerusalem. Dining tables will be left with plates of uneaten food because the diners have gone to the marriage supper of the Lamb.
Newspaper headlines will herald the starling news: “MILLIONS ARE MISSING.” Camera crews will go into local cemeteries as TV stations flash continual news updates about the worldwide disappearance. The Major networks will offer their usual telecasts where panels of bespectacled omnipotent ones explain to the lesser lights what has really happened.
Telephone lines will be jammed as family members start searching for each other. Churches will be packed by backsliding hypocrites weeping at the realization that Jesus Christ has returned and they’ve been left behind to go through the Great Tribulation and live under the rule of the Antichrist. Some of you reading this may be among them, because you don’t believe that What the Bible says is literally true. If you think the rapture is absolute poppycock, then good luck to you, partner, whenever the Antichrist arrives with his “mark” to enlist you in his army!
