Psalm 109:1-2 —Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise; For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me:  they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.

Satan’s name means “slanderer.”  He is also called the “accuser of the brethren.”  When you slander a brother or sister in Christ, you are doing the work of the devil himself— so stop it!

Proverbs 6:16 says there are seven things that God hates, and three of them have to do with speech.  One thing God hates is a lying tongue.  The Bible says that all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire Revelation 21:8.  Lying is not social adaptation to stress.  Lying is not situation ethics.  Lying is a oneway ticket to the chambers of hell.

Another thing God hates is a false witness, someone who speaks lies about someone else.  The result of a false witness is the third type of speech God hates. Because that person “soweth discord among the brethren.”

Ham slandered his father Noah and God cursed Ham and his descendants forever.  He was cursed by the speech of his tongue.  Miriam slandered Moses and God gave her leprosy the same day.  Her leprosy was born on the tip of her toxic tongue.  In the Old Testament, a group of children ran out to mock the man of God, Elijah and God sent a shebear out of the woods to eat them alive.  The epitaph of their tombstone could have been, Killed by the Tongue.
