Great Commandment by Tammy Lang Jensen
I command you to love one another as I have loved you. Can you not go a day without arguing over religious laws and doctrine. Do not seek what is man-made, but what is God made.

He is the maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them-he remains faithful forever (Psalm 146:6). So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them (Genesis 1:27).

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets (Matthew 22:37-40). God is more concerned about us loving him and one another than anything else. It is troubling to my heart that I struggle with this every day. It is hard to not become angry with the person who cuts you off in traffic.

We are greeted with things every day that make us feel invisible and like a number. Isn’t it awesome to know that the creator of the universe has numbered the hairs on our head. That we are the apple of his eye. So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows (Matthew 10:31). Let my hand guide you, let love be the Compass that always points true North. I call you this day to a higher place. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I (Psalm 61:2).

For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock (Psalm 27:5). God is coming, are you ready? But when you are invited, go and recline in the lowest place, so that when your host comes in, he may say to you, friend, go up higher! Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit (at the table)with you (Luke 14:10).

If you come in low, God will raise you high. Are you more likely to pet a lamb or a lion? I led them with chords of human kindness, with ties of love. To them I was like one who lifts a little child to the cheek, and I bent down to feed them (Hosea 11:4). God is playing your heartstrings like a musical instrument, a tune your ear to him. Praise the Lord with melodies on the Lyre; make music for him on the ten stringed harp (Psalm 33:2).

My children know my voice, and they will follow me; my love calls them in. Let the battering ram of God’s love breakthrough. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility (Ephesians 2:14). This is what love is: it is not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent His Son to be the means by which our sins are forgiven (1 John 4:10). Come to me, all who are weary and I will give you rest....
