2 Chronicles 7:14—If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
“It is fit and becoming in all people, at all times, to acknowledge and reverse the Supreme Government of God; to bow in humble submission to His chastisement to confess and deplore their sins and transgressions in the full conviction that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and to pray, with all fervency and contrition, for the pardon of their past offenses, and for a blessing upon their present and prospective action.”

Declaring a National Day of Prayer and Fasting following The Battle of Bull Run.
Our nation celebrated its 232nd birthday in 2008. From the beginning of history, the average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been about two hundred years. During those years, these great nations always progress through the following sequence: form bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependence back into bondage.
8 years and over 700 billion dollars in government bailouts later, it is not a stretch to suggest that America today, in 2008, has succumbed to the grip of dependency.
We must realize that our freedom is hanging in the balancer and apathy threatens to wipe it out all together. America’s fate does not lie in the hands of politicians; it lies in the hands of God. Some may wonder why God allows such leaders to rule, but the plain truth is that we, the people, have put godless men in office. God will not cast our vote for us; we still have the fee will to sit at home on Election Day.
