Psalm 78:4
We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done
Because Pastor Matt Hagee made the choice to submit to the spiritual authority of his father and pastor, John Hagee, they were able to achieve “generational leverage.”
He explained it this way: if a person needs a loan, he visits the bank and shows the little collateral that he possesses and requests a loan. When the bank loans him the funds, he leverages the little bit of his money with a whole lot of their money for profit.
When Pastor Matt was a new college graduate, his father said, “Son, if I only knew then what I know now and have the energy of my 20’s….” Pastor Matt replied, “Dad, I’m in my 20’s, and I have all kinds of energy, but I am all kinds of ignorant!”
He said, “Dad, if you will loan me your wisdom, I will leverage it with my energy.” Pastor Matt took his zeal and leveraged it into over four decades of his father’s experience. Together, much ministry has flowed out of that collaboration to the glory of God.
When the more mature generation lends its Godly experience, its vision continues into the future. When the younger generation lends its energy, the mission progresses with renewed vitality. And in that place of generational leverage and unity, God commands His blessings to flow.
Blessing:
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May the Lord open your eyes to recognize the experience and expertise in others – young and old. May you submit your gift with theirs to accomplish much for the glory of God. He is faithful from generation to generation! In the name of Jesus…amen.
