The Little Things by Tammy Lang Jensen

The Little Things by Tammy Lang Jensen
I was talking with the Lord this morning. He was showing me a man that set out on a long journey. He packed everything he would need and was optimistic about the path he chose.

However, after just a few minutes of walking he discovered he had a pebble in his shoe. Instead of stopping, sitting down and emptying the shoe he continued on, thinking it was just a small pebble how much damage can it do. But the longer he walked, the more worrisome it became.

Why so often do we continue forward and ignore the little things. Small frustrations that can end up as big events. Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom (Song of Solomon 2:15). Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven works through the whole batch of dough (1 Corinthians 5:6). To boast that you could walk 100 miles with a pebble in your shoe would be foolish. Wisdom says,”Stop and remove it, you have nothing to prove.” Why do we rush forward blindly, when a little planning goes a long way. For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her (Proverbs 8:11). So wisdom says,”Remove the pebble before you get a blister and cannot complete the course.”....

So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing (James 1:4). So the test is not how quick we finish the hundred miles, the test is finishing and not giving up. How well are you running your race? Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us (Hebrews 12:1). I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7). So with faith strong, hope alive and prayers never ending; move forward....

Don’t worry about how fast you arrive at your destination. Worry about how well you run the race. Were you kind, were you honest, were you trustworthy. Could people count on you, was the atmosphere changed when you entered a room. So let it be said of him, “That he was a godly man, with good morals and character.” Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold (Proverbs 22:1). Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him (James 1:12).
Hold on to your crown, that no one takes it....
