Almost Everyone Gets Depressed Sometime In His Or Her Life!
Elijah got depressed. Wicked old Jezebel sent Elijah a message and said, “I’m going to kill you by this time tomorrow.” Elijah ran for his life out into the wilderness. He collapsed under a juniper tree and prayed, “Lord, go ahead and take my life. I’m the only one left that’s living for you, and they’re trying to kill me.” Aren’t you glad God doesn’t answer every pitypot prayer you pray? The Lord sent an angel to feed Elijah and strengthen him.
Charles Haddon Spurgeon, one of the greatest preachers of all time, nearly died from depression. One Sunday while he was preaching to a full congregation, a mentally handicapped man stood up and screamed, “Fire! Fire!” The huge crowd stampeded for the doors and four of Spurgeon’s dear friends were trampled to death. His mind literally snapped. The deacons took him over to one of their homes and gave him the best medical counsel available. They prayed around the clock for the survival of their pastor. A few days later, while waking in the garden, Spurgeon said it was as if a light had pierced through the darkness and he could feel the presence of Jesus. “All that I had ever known was restored to me because of the counsel and the comfort of the dearest of friends,” he said.
The blessing is in receiving in faith whatever God does; He is sovereign and knows what is best for you!
