I saw many people in a stormy sea. All they had was a wooden paddle. Some were using it for a flotation device, while others were trying to tread water with it. All were in distress, and the storm threaten to overtake them.
I knew without a life boat, they would drown. Jesus is the life boat, and a paddle without a boat does you no good. So I ask you,”Why are you trying to navigate life‘s challenges without Jesus?” I feel like the paddle represents wisdom and the word. Immediately I think of the saying,”Up a creek without a paddle.” Unfortunately, all the wisdom and the word separate from Jesus will not save you. Just like many paddles without a boat will not take you safely to shore. Jesus is your life boat, and the word is your guide....
In the beginning was the word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1).
A peace settles over me as I think about Jesus carrying me safely home. In the midst of a stormy sea, he cradles me in His love. My Redeemer lives and he walks on water. Rather you are a wayward child, a backslidden Christian or a sanctified saint; Jesus loves you! And if you had been the only one he would have died for you just the same. So I ask you today,”Have you headed out to sea without a lifeboat?”....
