And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men (Luke 2:13-14).
All around us, we see many whose stories depict frustration and despair, pain and poverty; they’re broken, displaced, and helpless. Some people see this terrible picture of the needy and ask, "Isn’t there a God? Couldn’t He have done something?" Yes, there’s a God; and He already did something.
First, He gave us the mind to think about such people, see the state they’re in, and then imbued us with the ability to pitch in and help. But you see, much greater than whatever help we could render is what He did in sending Jesus Christ to the world. Jesus is God’s answer to all of man’s challenges, the solution to every problem. Man needs much more than food, water, shelter, medicine and money; man needs divine life. And only Jesus gives that life. He said, "…I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10 NIV).
Sometimes, you may think if someone had a lot of money, he’d be fine, but it’s not true. He may still be broken and in pain, even with all the wealth. Jesus said a man’s life doesn’t consist in the abundance of his possessions (Luke 12:15). Money doesn’t give life, joy, or peace; but Christ does. So, everyone needs Jesus; He’s God’s response to the cry of humanity. God knew that if He sent Jesus to the world, it would be the end of frustration, misery, sorrow, and darkness for anyone who believes.
This is the reason we preach and teach the Gospel all around the world, letting men know that it doesn’t matter what their case is; in Christ they have hope. In Christ they’ve been delivered; they have victory, glory, and life eternal. It makes no difference where they are in life, if they’d receive Christ, He’ll usher them into the transcendent life. In Christ, we’re more than conquerors.
Christ is the answer. He’s the solution that men seek. Get to know Him, and follow Him in the Word, through the Word, and by the Word; and your life will be excellent and full of glory.
Prayer
Dear Father, I thank you for sending Jesus to the world as the answer to man’s cry for salvation, peace, prosperity, and wellness. My eyes are open to see those in need, and I thank you for making me your outstretched arm of blessing, and a minister of reconciliation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
