You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Hide It Under A Bushel? No! I’m Gonna Let It Shine. Let It Shine, Let It Shine, Let It Shine.
This Little Light Of Mine is a simple children’s song that presents a profound truth. Perhaps we should start singing it in our adult church services.
Do you ever wonder what it would be like to visit a New Testament church service? I imagine it would be a far cry from our stately sanctuaries with their crystal chandeliers and mistymauve carpets.
The New Testament church was always in riot or revival—sometimes both at the same time. They were healing the sick, casting out demons, speaking in tongues, praising God…and being burned alive, thrown in the dungeon and fed to the lions. They were letting their light shine so much they were called the people who “turned the world upside down” Acts 17:6.
I have preached a sermon series called Take America Back. I said that the solution to our problems is for the church to come together in unity…to stop fighting each other and start fighting the forces of Satan…to speak out for righteousness…to be bold as a lion …and to take America back one heart at a time, one home at a time, one city at a time.
If we were to become as intent on accomplishing our agenda as the gay rights activists and the feminist are for their agenda, we would see a change in this country. It’s time for the church in America to turn our world upside down.
