Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
God Has Invented You To Soar.
There is a story about an American Indian who found an eagle’s egg and placed it in the nest of a prairie chicken. The eagle hatched with a brood of prairie chickens and grew up with them. Thinking he was a prairie chicken, the eagle did what the other prairie chickens did. He never flew more than a few feet, because that’s what the prairie chickens did. One day he saw a magnificent bird, flying gracefully and effortlessly far above him in the cloudless sky. On the powerful wind currents it soared majestically with scarcely a beat of its mighty wings. The earthbound eagle asked the prairie chicken, “What is that beautiful bird?” The prairie chickens said, “That’s the eagle. He is the chief of birds. But you could never fly like him, because you’re just a prairie chicken.” So the eagle never gave it another thought and eventually he died, deceived and deprived of his heritage because he was persuaded by the limited vision of others.
What a waste.
The greater waste is that millions of Christians—designed by the Creator go fly to the highest heights of heaven and to sit in the heavenlies with him—are scratching in the dirt for seeds and worms, convinced that they’re just prairie chickens. What about you? Are you an earthbound prairie chicken, scratching for seeds and worms, or a spiritual eagle that knows the joy of reaching for heaven’s best and living in the dimension of excellence?
