James 4:14
Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
Love Is Sustained By Living Each Day As If It Were Your Last!
I have officiated at hundreds of funerals over the years. I’ve stood beside so many caskets and heard the sobbing statements of farewell. I suppose I could write a novel from the things I’ve heard. Husbands say, “Honey, I wish we had taken that vacation we always talked about…I wish we had lived a little slower, loved a little deeper, stopped to smell the roses along the way.” Wives say, “Honey, I’d trade all these possessions you worked so hard to get for just one more day with you…just to hear your voice, just to hold you in my arms one more time.”
How would you love and live if this were your last day on earth? Would you go upstairs and start WWIII because he left his socks on the bedroom floor or she left the cap off the toothpaste? Would you leave for work without kissing your children and hugging them tight? Would you let your husband leave with angry words ringing in his ears over something so trivial it will soon be forgotten?
One of these days you’re going to eat breakfast together for the last time. You’re going to kiss each other goodbye for the last time when you stand by that casket. Will your mind be flooded with a sea of hateful things you wish you hadn’t said?
Are you living and loving each day like it was your last day? Are you allowing the love of God to rule your heart and your home? You will never succeed until you learn to love with the love of God.
