Deuteronomy 30:19—I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;
Although God Has Given Us The Ability To Make Our Own Choices, He Is Quite Explicit About What Choice We Should Make: “Choose Life!”
Despite God’s direction, Americans today have not been choosing life in staggering numbers. Every year nearly a million and a half abortions are performed in the United States alone; well over thirtyseven million babies have been wantonly destroyed since our Supreme Court rewrote the abortion laws nationwide. Now, shamefully, even fullterm babies who would be able to survive outside the womb are now being murdered under the protection of the law.
How could something so horrible happen in America? Consider the following quote by J. Budziszewski:
“As any sin passes through its stages; form temptation, to toleration, to approve its name is first euphemized, then avoided, then forgotten…first we were to approve of killing unborn babies, then babies in the process of birth, next came newborns with physical defects, now newborns in perfect health.”
We have already fallen far down that slope. We must realize that these procedures are happening in our country, not just in the past in Nazi Germany, and they are taking place more often than we think. Now is the time we must stand up and “choose life!”
