A Great Soldier by John Hagee
Ephesians 6:15— And having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace

You Can Be A Great Soldier, But If You Can’t Walk To Where The Fight Is, You’re Useless!

Shoes give mobility.  But there’s a difference between motion and progress.  Many Christians are going around in circles, but they never arrive.  They are continually in motion but making no progress.  They’re always on the move…drifting from church to church…from group to group… from doctrine to doctrine.  If you’re like that, get in a church and stay in it.  Be planted by rivers of living water and produce fruit.

Shoes give stability and mobility.  Paul calls the shoes “the gospel of peace.”  What is that?  Gospel means good news, so the shoes are the good news of peace.  He is not talking about world peace; he’s talking about peace between God and man.  From the fall of man in the Garden of Eden until the cross of Calvary, man was at war with God.  The Bible presents man as being at war with God, because sin must be punished.  Then Jesus Christ went to the cross and united sinful man to God.  Peace was made at Calvary by the sacrifice of God’s own son.

Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  The fact is, if you have not received Jesus Christ, peace is not possible…stability is not possible…progress is not possible.  But because of Calvary, there is peace between God and man.  God is now on my side.  If you forget everything else I say here, remember that. Because of Calvary, God is now on my side.  The Bible says, “And having made peace through the blood of His cross,” we are reconciled to God, Colossians 1:20.  Remember that when Satan roars against you, you are not alone.  God is on your side because of Calvary.
