America Is Not Attracted To Christianity Because It Is Being Presented As Something Sentimental And Spineless
Jesus said, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” Matthew 28:18. He gave that power to the disciples—power to cast out demons…power over death, hell and the grave…power over the principalities and powers of darkness…power over the world, the flesh and the devil. We have the power of His name, the power of His word, and the power of His Gospel.
The church does not see Jesus as strong because he has been portrayed form the pulpit and by artists as “Gentle Jesus, Meek and Mild.” This image of an insipid and pious peacenik misses the real Jesus. The real Jesus was meek, but he wasn’t weak.
“Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.” There is a difference between power and might. Power is potential strength that has not been used. I have the power to take a dart and throw it. That’s potential strength. When I throw it, that’s a demonstration of might. Power is potential. Might is power displayed. For that reason, we have every right to sing, “Our God is an Awesome God.” He doesn’t just have potential power, He demonstrated his power in the beginning of time by creating a living soul. He demonstrated His power at the Red Sea. He demonstrated His power in the fiery furnace. He demonstrated His power when He walked out of His own grave. He does not just have potential power; He releases that power. He is the almighty God of the ages, Jesus who is the Christ.
