Matthew 5:1-3
And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them saying: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
The Divine Blueprint for Happiness
What do you want out of life? Most people respond, "I just want to be happy." Happiness to most people is getting what they want. But the truth is that the more we get what we want, the less we want what we get. So what would it take to make you happy?
Jesus Christ laid out a blueprint for happiness called the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12). His Sermon on the Mount is the divine blueprint for a happy life. Contained within it are the secrets that bring joy inexpressible, a joy explosion you cannot contain.
Jesus was criticized by the Pharisees for being too happy (Luke 7:34). The angel who sang over Bethlehem's manger declared, "I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people" (Luke 2:10). The church is singing victory in the closing pictures of Revelation (Revelation 15:2-4). We begin with a song and we end with a song! Yes, Christianity has its discipline. but if we lose our joy, we have lost our credibility.
