The Lord showed me a beautiful bright eyed owl this morning. I immediately started asking what are you trying to show me.
The owl stands for wisdom and is known for being nocturnal, actively hunting their prey in darkness. Several types of owls however, are crepuscular-active during the twilight hours of dawn and dusk.
I need my watchmen, my intercessors to learn from this example. Then the Lord began to focus on the four different prayer watches of the night. First watch (the evening watch from 6:00pm-9:00 pm), Second watch from 9:00pm-12:00am, Third watch (The breaking of day watch from 12 AM to 3 AM) and finally the Forth watch (the morning watch from 3:00 am to 6:00am). The Lord quickly remind me how he has been waking me up in the middle of the night. He also showed me how he has been doing the same for many of his children.
He said many grumble and complain about the pain they are feeling, being woke from restful sleep. But few have stopped long enough to ask, Lord, why have you woke me, what can I do, how can I serve you? Many intercessors have been bred in this environment. Many lives have been saved by a midnight prayer. The apostle Paul and Silas were released from prison during this time (Acts16:25). In addition, God released the people of Israel from Egypt at this time (Exodus 12). And finally Samson escaped from Gaza at midnight by pulling up the gates of the city and carrying them out with him (Judges 16:3-4).
God wants to do signs, wonders and miracles in your life. He wants to increase your prayer life and teach you to be a gatekeeper. Many are called, few are chosen, and even fewer show up on workday. The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few, pray for more workers! So the next time the Lord wakes you in the middle of the night.
Slow down, asked the question and let the Lord use you. Your prayers could be the mountain mover or game changer for someone near to you. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not (Galatians 6:9)....
