For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. (1 John 5:4 NKJV)
Are you feeling overcome by the world? Are you feeling less than a conqueror? If so, you are in good company. We all go through times when we don’t feel like the totally victorious Christians the Word says we are.
But at times like these, when you are tempted to yield to feelings of condemnation, remind yourself that your feelings will lie to you. Feelings are just that: feelings.
Your feelings will fluctuate depending on how you perceive yourself, your circumstances, and the situation around you. Feelings will even cause you to doubt what the Word of God says about you. When you allow yourself to be led by your feelings, you will not get the victory that is already yours in Jesus.
However, if you refuse to be led by your feelings and choose instead to believe what the Word of God says about you and your situation, your feelings will eventually yield to the truth and change. As you meditate on the Word of God and see yourself as an overcomer through the eye of faith, victory will come easily.
The Bible doesn’t say, “This is the victory that has overcome the world—our feelings.” No, it says, “This is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” So take this radical step today: decide to walk by faith regardless of what your feelings might say.
Confession: I am not moved by what I feel. I am not moved by what I see. I am moved only by the Word of God, and it says I am an overcomer!
