His Part, My Part by Tunmike Umarudeen

Once I read a story of a woman who was dieting. She asked God to keep her away from all desert.

One evening, she was drawn to the refrigerator where her son's leftover birthday cake was stored. Immediately, the telephone rang.

Her second attempt was interrupted by someone knocking on her door. She suddenly realised that God was answering her prayer and keeping her from going to the refrigerator where she would be tempted to indulge. She humbly thanked God for doing His part (and He never fails in doing it perfectly), then she did hers.

For some of us, it could be untamed appetite for food, poor spending habits, relating with the opposite sex carelessly, masturbation etc. Each of us have got weaknesses we must not deny but addressed. Because we are often tempted in our weaknesses or areas of vulnerability, proactive and preventives measure are spiritual disciplines we must apply to ourselves.

"Let everyone be sure that he is doing his very best, for then he will have the personal satisfaction of work well done, and he won't need to compare himself with someone else. Each of us must bear some faults and burdens of his own. For none of us is perfect!" Galatians 6:4-5(TLB).

Never are we helpless about our weaknesses because we have Jesus Christ - "For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation..." Hebrews 4:15 (AMP). Hence, we must fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in good time for every need (verse 16).

PRAYER STARTER: Thank you Jesus for being an ever dependable helper. Today, I exchange my weaknesses (mention them please) for your strength and receive grace to act accordingly. Amen.
