2 Chronicles 7:14 - “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
What did our forefathers do when America was in crisis? Did they sing a quick song and then jump back into political chaos? No! When America looked like she was about to come crashing down like a house of cards, Benjamin Franklin urged the Continental Congress to fall on their knees and ask Almighty God for guidance. They understood the very simple and yet profound principle that prayer is the key that unlocks the door to wisdom and deliverance.
For everything that America needed during the early days of struggle for survival, prayer was the key. What does America and the world need today? More prayer! Even greater prayer!
Why should we pray? Because God not only hears us but answers when we pray.
God does not need America and the nations of the world, but we desperately need Him. We need to be healed of division and hatred. We need to remember what it means to be united once again. We need to set our trivial “causes” aside and become one body under our loving and gracious God. And this unity begins at home.
It is always better to be reconciled than to be right. Love those who persecute you, and know that when you are doing what God has called you to do, He will take care of those who are coming against you. Nobody can take care of your enemies like God can. “Vengeance is Mine,” says the Lord. You do your part, and let God do His.
