A Spirit of Forgetfulness by Deborah Waldron Fry

“Sunday is the Lord’s day, but the rest of the week belongs to me.” That is an unbiblical way to live.

A Spirit of Forgetfulness by Deborah Waldron Fry
Ephesians 6:5-8

Christians sometimes make the mistake of mentally separating their work life from their spiritual life. This mindset says, “Sunday is the Lord’s day, but the rest of the week belongs to me.” That is an unbiblical way to live. God’s Holy Spirit should be involved in everything we do, and we ought to recognize Him as our guide, comforter, and intercessor no matter where we are. Why would we want to exclude Him from something that takes up a large part of our week?

The apostle Paul clearly teaches that work is to be done as for the Lord (Col. 3:23). Other people may do a job better because of greater skill or experience, but believers should be known for doing quality work in a timely, wise, and respectful manner. And we can trust the Holy Spirit to equip us to do just that.

Beloved. I am not the Author of confusion, but of Peace. Keep your eyes focused on Me, My Child. There is a spirit of confusion trying to come upon the Body of Christ. A spirit of forgetfulness and a clouding of your spiritual senses. Why is the enemy doing this, you ask. It is because you are standing before a Door I have opened for you. You are getting ready to enter a season that is unprecedented upon this earth. It is the new Day dawning.

It is JOY unspeakable and full of Glory for My Bride. I shall turn your mourning into dancing and your tears into shouts of joy. The devil wants to make you forget My Grace, Goodness and Mercy. He wants to confuse your mind with his lies. This is when you must completely trust Me, My Bride. Lean not to your own understanding. My Spirit is leading you through this temporary fog of war. My Hand is holding yours. I am the Breaker who has gone before you to open the way and the Door. The Sun of Righteousness has risen over you with healing in His Wings. Don't forget, My Love, that I am always with you. I have not given you a spirit of fear, but of POWER, LOVE and a SOUND MIND. As smoke is driven away, so I will drive the enemy away; As wax melts before the fire, so the lies of the evil one shall perish before you. Come, Dear One, and we will take that next step of faith. Eye has not seen nor ear heard of the wonderful things I have ahead for you. But I will reveal them by My Spirit. Look full into My Shining Face, Beloved. My Peace shall guard your heart and mind. Fear not. This fog of confusion shall melt away at My Glorious Presence and by My Spirit, I shall show you new vistas ahead!

Serving the Lord on the job means that our workplace is also our ministry site. A job provides money to support the family, but when done faithfully, it becomes far more than simply a means to make a living. One’s work also develops character, builds a sense of self-worth, and develops skills. Moreover, while we are around coworkers for a number of hours each day, we have opportunity to build relationships, bear testimony, and glorify our heavenly Father.

Work shouldn’t be seen as drudgery; it is an opportunity to show love for the Lord. The reward for those who serve God and love others on the job is greater than a paycheck. They are blessed with a ministry—a harvest field for the kingdom, right inside the factory, office building, or construction site.
