For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who called you into his kingdom and glory (1 Thessalonians 2:11-12).What a great example the disciples were to us, their wonderful successes and failures. Great examples of what it is to be human, while striving towards perfection and the upward call of heaven. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48). I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14). You fall down, you get up, you get it wrong, you try again.
What a great learning experience life on earth can be. The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy (Psalm 145:8). Cry out to God in heaven, turning your face to him once again!
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14). The most powerful position a man can have, is when he kneels to pray. There is something about a humble man, that touches the heart of the Father. God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth (Matthew 5:5). God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God (Matthew 5:8).
And finally, God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs (Matthew 5:10). Count it all joy when you suffer for my name sake. And the apostles departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name (Acts 5:41). You are mine, and I am yours; and together we walk the path of life. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that you may have life, and have it more abundantly (John 10:10)....
