God was showing me this morning, how people are like fine china. And as it ages each piece has its own chips, cracks, holes, weak places and loose handles. With China we can see where the weak places are and handle that piece with care, so we don't cause further damage. Unfortunately, with people it is much harder.
We all work so hard to hide our holes, cracks and imperfections. Then when we get mishandled, we look for someone to blame. Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. When was the last time you were really transparent with someone.
Receiving the prayer you really needed. We are all sinners saved by grace. Maybe if our scars were a little more obvious, friends and family would handle with a little more care. If they could see our broken handle, they would grab us from the other side. Guiding us straight to Jesus, our firm foundation, a solid place to lean.
So this is what the sovereign Lord says: See I lay a Stone in Zion, A tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic (Isaiah 28:16). O afflicted one, storm-tossed, and not comforted. Behold, I will set your stones in antimony, and your foundations I will lay and sapphires (Isaiah 54:11). Storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed (1 Timothy 6:19).
Having been built on the foundation of apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20). On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. Though the waves and billows blow over me, I will not be shaken. I know who I am, and whose I am; a child of the most high God....
