The Battle Lines Are Now Drawn by John Hagee
1 Timothy 4:16—Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual—or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.
–Samuel Adams

The battle lines are now drawn.  We must now prepare ourselves to make an impact on our society and be a good witness to those around us.  Too many times in our society Christians are being portrayed to be extremely judgmental, with nothing to offer society but criticism and negative attitudes.

Bertrand Russell, the most famous atheist in the beginning of the twentieth century, said, that, “The reason I am not a Christian is because I know too many Christians.”  Words like these are a tragic indictment of the followers of Jesus Christ; sadly enough in many cases they are true.  Petty, judgmental, legalistic and hypocritical people fill the pews of many of today’s churches.

This cliché can no longer be perpetuated.   We must accurately convey society that, while we are a political force to be reckoned with, we are also a caring people.  A Christian’s failure to “preach the gospel” with actions and deeds can cause people to repel from God and the gospel

We must demonstrate to society that we have something they want, something they are missing.  Instead of legalism, we must offer them life; instead of liturgy, we must offer them liberty; and instead of loathing, we must offer them love.  With the current moral climate in the world today, people should be standing in line to get into church.  We need to give them a reason to do so.  We must change our lives to reflect Christ in us, let our light shine, and change the world.
