The More You Speak The Truth In Love, The More Love Your Partner Will Show—Part One
Two friends had been out a little later than they should have. They came home to their respective wives late and the next day they met. One man said to the other, “Was your wife angry because we were out late last night?” The other man said, “Nah, in the final analysis, she came to me on her hands and her knees.” “No kidding? How did it happen?” the first man asked. The second man looked kind of sheepish and said, “She crawled across the bedroom floor on her hands and knees, looked under the bed and said, “Come out from under there you coward, and fight like a man!”
Psychologist Dr. Henry Brandt says there is no nakedness that can compare to psychological and emotional nakedness. When your wife or your husband points out your deficiency, you grasp for something to cover yourself with.
I hear wives saying, “Well, I just can’t talk to my husband about that. He’ll get mad.” Let him get mad. Go ahead and talk to him about it. Men say ”Oh, I just can’t talk to my wife about that. She’ll holler for a week.” Let her holler! Hit it head on and talk right through it.
Nothing improves your wife’s hearing like praise. I don’t mean you have to get up every morning and sing, “There she is, Miss America.” That’s a little much. But praise would help.
The more love a partner shows, the easier it is to praise. Truth is a two edged sword, and when you pick it up to use it, make sure you’re using it candidly and cautiously with your marriage partner.
