And this is the record, that God hath
given to us eternal life, and this life is in
his Son. He that hath the Son hath life;
and he that hath not the Son of God hath
not life (1 John 5:11-12).
Eternal life is the nature of God, and the Bible says this life is in Christ Jesus. This is the life Jesus referred to when He said, “For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself” (John 5:26). Jesus had that life, which He received from the Father. It’s translated “eternal life” in English because of the limitation of the English language; this is the “God-life” or “the God-kind of life.”
There’s the animal life; there’s the plant life; there’s the human life, and then there’s the God-life: the life of Deity. Anyone who has the Son of God, has this life, and anyone who doesn’t have the Son of God doesn’t have eternal life. That’s what we read in our opening scripture.
It doesn’t matter that someone is your sibling, your father, mother, friend, co-worker or classmate; if they don’t have the Son of God, they don’t have eternal life, and that’s serious trouble. It means they’re subject to the darkness and depravities of this world; they’re under the dominion of spiritual death. It’s the reason we preach, and it’s the reason you must do everything possible to ensure your loved ones receive eternal life which is in Christ Jesus.
The Bible says, “…the gift of God is eternal life...” (Romans 6:23); that gift is only available in Jesus Christ. He came that we may have life to the full (John 10:10 AMP). The vibrant, glorious, transcendent life of God in its fullness is what Jesus brought; it’s no ordinary life; and if you believe in Him, that’s what you’ve received into your spirit. You don’t have to “feel” it in your body first to be conscious that you have eternal life; it’s in your spirit.
Your consciousness of your divine nature and origin is so important. Recall the words of the Apostle John: “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life” (1 John 5:13).
CONFESSION:
I’m indestructible. Greater is He that’s in me than he that’s in the world. The life in me is incorruptible and indestructible, making me invincible. My life is for the glory of God; I’m walking in preordained pathways, fulfilling God’s purpose for my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
