2 Kings 17:14-15
For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’” She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family.
Sometimes getting what you want is not getting what you need. God has promised to meet our needs, not our greeds; and there is a difference. If your children need a ride to school, you can ask God to meet your need. If you're waiting for Him to send you a limousine, you might want to examine your priorities.
Think about the poor widow of 1 Kings 17. She gave her last bowl of meal to Elijah, knowing that she and her son would be left without nothing. And as soon as she offered her last morsels to the prophet, her oil drum began to fill to the rim. The Bible records that the barrel never ran dry again.
What are you doing for the Kingdom? If you are dishonoring God with your life and yet asking Him to provide for you, then you first need to get your priorities straight. Honor God with your living and your giving, and you will see that you do not have enough room to contain the blessings of the Lord.
