Bringing Our Children Up to Know God by Pastor Mark Jensen
Good morning friends and family of God Honor Strength, welcome to the beginning of a new week, a week that God has planned for you and blessed you. I hope each of you had an amazing and blessed weekend, and were able to spend time with those that you love and care about, including our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Today is the first day of school for many children here in Spring, Texas, and many of the surrounding school districts. Some children started last week, and even others in different cities and states may not start for another week. However, for all kids and teenagers, a new school year begins. A year of learning, growing, experiencing new challenges, making new friends, and of course the nervousness of what may have changed over the summer. We need to keep in mind that not only are we a bit nervous when our children go off to school, but they may be just as nervous if not more. They may feel nervous, anxious, excited or even down right scared. But we can comfort them, guide them and support them, just as our Father in Heaven does for us, each and every day.

Teach children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
Proverbs 22:6

It is our responsibility as parents to provide for our children, make sure they have proper education, take care of them and guide them as they grow, doing what is best for them, even when they think we are doing everything possible to make their lives miserable. How much better would we all be, had there been an instruction manual. But we can be comforted in the fact that we are bringing our children up to know God and to know our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. They may not be overly excited about going to church or spending time with God or listening to you teach them, but at the end of the day, they may not have listened, but they heard and learned and that will always be in their minds and in their hearts, even if they won't or don't admit it.

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
Romans 8:14

Just as we do everything we can for our children, God does the same and more, for each of us. We are each his child, a child of the most high God. He has and always will provide everything we need when we need it, even when we aren't listening. He will never leave us nor forsake us, even when we get so busy with our daily lives we forget about him. He will always guide you down the path he has planned for you, even when you rebel against him and try to make your own path. If you stop and think about it for just a moment, just as our children are learning and growing everyday, so shouldn't we?
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
1 John 3:2

Each of us know that being a Christian in not just about going to church or reading the bible or trying to live a godly life, it is about accepting and having a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I have that and you have that, and it is up to you and I to insure our children have that. They may be too young yet to understand what it means, or they may be at an age where they know everything, but we as parents need to do our part and then allow God to do his.

As I speak a blessing over each of you this morning, always remember, I am here for you if you ever need to talk or get something off your chest or if you need prayer for yourselves, your family or your friends. Please do not hesitate to contact me.

May the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; may the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

Dear Father God, thank you for blessing us with this day and loving us as Your children. Watch over each and every one of us as we start each day, as we go through this week, keeping us in the palm of Your hand. Guide us in our daily lives, directing us on the path You have planned for us, bringing forth the dreams you have planted in each of our hearts. For we know who we are and whose we are, children of the most high God. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
"Keep your Faith strong, your Hope alive and your Prayers never ending."

God Bless
Pastor Mark
