Love Begins With You by John Hagee
Leviticus 19:18
You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.

Love Begins With You!  If You Don’t Like Yourself, You Won’t Like Your Neighbor.  Learn To Love And Appreciate How God Made You
Part One—

If you don’t like yourself, you won’t like your neighbor.  Most Americans, if given a chance, would like to be someone else.  Americans love to change their hair color and want the plastic surgeon to mold and shape our faces and our bodies until they look just the way we want.  We’re not satisfied with ourselves.  But if you can’t accept yourself the way you are, you can’t accept anyone else and you can’t love anyone else.

Types of personalities and temperaments were defined several hundred years before Christ.  They are sanguine, choleric melancholy and phlegmatic.  No one is made up of 100 percent of one temperament, but you will be a strong mixture of one or two of the four temperaments.

A sanguine temperament is warm and lively and loves to talk.  Their feelings predominate in everything they do.  Sanguines often appear more confident than they really are.  They make great salesmen, teachers, actors and speakers.

The apostle Peter was a sanguine.  He was always the first to express his opinion and his feelings were always right on the surface.  When Jesus told his disciples He would have to die, sanguine Peter said, “Oh no, you’re not.  We’ll take up swords and fight for you.”  If he had stopped to think, he would have realized they would have had no chance against the Roman army.

Peter, whose loose tongue got him into trouble, was the one who preached the sermon on the Day of Pentecost when 3,000 people were saved.  The point is that God knew the strengths and weaknesses of his personality.  God took what he was and caused him to be effective in the ministry.

God can use you where you are, just like you are, if you will quit hating what you are.
