The Power of The Tongue by Tammy Lang Jensen
Are we blessing the next generation into position, or are we cursing them into stagnation.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue. And those who love it will eat its fruit (Proverbs 18:21). What kind of fruit is your tree bearing?

What are you passing down through your family line. Generational blessings are generational curses. In the south we like to joke, “Don’t shake my family tree, all the nuts will fall out.” Have we joked our way into disaster. Whatever you allow will stay, and whatever you tolerate will take up residence. I am ready for the shaking God has promised, awaiting the sifting of the wheat from the tares. I have allowed the two to grow together for a time, but now I come with my winnowing fork in my hand, and I will clear the threshing floor, gathering my wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire (Matthew 3:12).

Our God is an all consuming fire. Because of this will not the land quake and everyone who dwells in mourn? Indeed, all of it will rise up like the Nile, and it will be tossed about and subside like the Nile of Egypt (Amos 8:8). Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains with tremble before you (Isaiah 64:1). That the people once again would believe in your might and power. That they would bow low before you. That their children and their children’s children would fear the Lord.

That they would put away their detestable acts and seek your face. Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the holy one results in good judgment (Proverbs 9:10). In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence, and his children will have refuge (Proverbs 14:26). Guard the words of your mouth today. Run to the Lord for a safe hiding place. The joy of the Lord is your strength, and wisdom of his word brings knowledge.

Speak a blessing over all you meet, let your words be sweet like honey. When a man’s ways please the Lord he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him (Proverbs 16:7). Remember, a man’s heart can be like a raging river, one only the Lord can control. Trust God with your affairs today, surrender control to the King.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows (Psalm 23:5). Your goodness and mercy will follow me all of my days and I will dwell in your house forever...,
