Malachi 4:6
And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.
The Toughness and self-discipline that David developed as a guerilla fighter disappeared as expensive chariots and horses filled the king's courtyard. David could afford luxury and indulged his children. Their luxurious lifestyle destroyed them. They didn't have to work for anything (2 Samuel 15:1). They were corrupted by abundance, by indulgence, by a lack of discipline in their family.
So I ask you, is your child safe? Is your son safe? Is your daughter safe? Will you at some future date sob over your child like King David, "O my son Absalom - my son, my son Absalom - if only I had died in your place!" (2 Samuel 18:33). You can't die for your son or your daughter. Jesus did that. But you can live for them. You can give them your time and a godly role model. You can invest yourself in your child's life, pray with them, read the Word of God to them, walk with the Spirit of God, and express the love and peace and joy found in Him to your kids. Don't wait.
