“I pray you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ” (Philemon 1:6 NIV).
If I had the cure for cancer and didn’t tell anyone about it, I’d be a criminal. If I had the cure for HIV/AIDS and didn’t share it with anyone, I’d deserve to be in jail.
But those of us who follow Jesus have something even more important.
We know how people can have their past forgiven, get a purpose for living, and have a home in heaven.
God says if we want his blessing, we need to share that message.
Paul writes in Philemon 1:6: “I pray you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ” (NIV).
In other words, don’t keep your faith in Jesus a secret. Tell other people about it. Invite them to church. Give them a Bible. Hand them a book or resource about what it means to follow Jesus.
God will bless you when you do.
We all have different roles. You may not be a preacher. You may not be a missionary.
But you can play a part in sharing the Good News—and you’ll be rewarded no matter what part that is.
The Bible says, “The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor” (1 Corinthians 3:8 NIV).
Think of it like this. If you faithfully share the message of Jesus with other people, you’re preparing for an amazing day when you get to heaven. Can you imagine what it will be like when you see people who are in heaven because you shared your faith?
That’s a blessing you can’t compare to anything else!
