If You Can’t Control Your Tongue by John Hagee
James 1:26—If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.

If You Can’t Control Your Tongue, What You Profess To Have In Christ Is Useless!

Here are some Bible diseases of the tongue.
Disease number one is excessive talking.  Proverbs 10:19 says that when your words are many, sin is not absent; but the man who holds his tongue is wise.  It is a fact that when you talk all the time, sin is unavoidable.

Disease number two is speaking idle or careless words.  Matthew 12:36 says that men will have to give an account on the Day of Judgment for every careless word they have spoken.  Matthew 5:37 says to let your “yes be yes” and “your no be no.”  In other words, don’t say, “Yes, I swear on my mother’s grave…I swear on the Bible…  If you tell the truth all the time, that’s never necessary.

Which brings me to disease number three, lying.  Revelation 21:8 says that all liars will have their part in the lake of fire.  Jesus said that Satan is a liar and the father of lying, John 8:44.  When you lie, you are saying your allegiance is with the devil!  Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.  And when He is the Lord of your life, truth will come out of your mouth.

The fourth Bible disease of the tongue is flattery.  Psalm 12:3 says, “Help, Lord, everyone lies to his neighbor; their flattering lips speak with deception.  Flattery is excessive praise.  Honor is praise for what you have justly done.  The Bible says to give honor to whom honor is due, but flattery is excessive praise.  And some people use flattery to control other people.

The Bible goes to great lengths to tell the power of words.  Your tongue can put you under supernatural bondage or emotional distress.  The words “if we say…if we say…if we say” are recorded over and over again in scripture.  Why?  Because what you say controls your spiritual, emotional and physical destiny.
