Look at that again... pause and read again.
The Light that must shine and darkness cannot comprehend must have a substance in it that can combat and drive darkness away.
Since the world is of gross darkness which covers the people (Isaiah 60:2), this light must be a living one to completely drives away the gross darkness from the world.
Therefore, the light must come from a source of life and the only source of life is Jesus Christ.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:4 KJV
So the light the scripture is talking about here is this light that emanates from the life of Christ embedded in you.
Do you have Jesus
Do you believe in Him
If yes, then Go SHINE
