Psalm 66:18-19 - If I have cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer.
Prepare Your Heart
In order for God to hear our prayers, we must take time to cleanse our hearts and minds with the blood of Jesus. That means sincere repentance - our confessions of sin and conscious decision to turn from that sin and walk in God's way.
"I write to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of His name." (1 John 2:12) Christ's death on the cross enables us to rid our hearts of the sin that would separate us from God.
"For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.: (1 Peter 3:2)
We must be righteous if we desire the Lord's attention to our prayers. What do we do to become righteous? We must accept Christ as our personal Lord and Savior.
Romans 3:22-24 says, "This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."
You cannot earn righteousness by anything you do or do not do. Likewise, you cannot lose your righteousness by anything you do or do not do. For righteousness comes only through the blood of Christ.
God promises to hear the prayers of the righteous. This can include you. Have you accepted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?
