Proverbs 14:22-23 - Those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness. All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.Set A Time To Pray
Life consists of choice, and an effective prayer life requires a conscious decision to set aside a specific time each day to pray.
Whether you are beginning or resuming a consistent prayer life, start small. Consider your lifestyle and set realistic goals. Keeping your commitment is much more important than trying to maintain some impressive length of time that you pray.
You may want to wake up early, wait until the kids are off to school, or arrange to arrive at work with a few minutes to spare. You might set aside time in the afternoon or evening when life has slowed down a bit for you. You may realize that what works for you one day will not work the next. Consider an alternate plan - a choice of two times each day.
Prayer needs to be learned and practiced. Take small steps. God will meet you where you are. Don't worry when others say they pray an hour or more a day. Most likely, they began small and worked their way up over the years.
The important thing is to establish a plan and stick with it. If you miss a day, don't panic. Get back in the saddle. God is a God of grace. Pick up your Bible and Prayer Journal and begin again. As you do, prayer will become a virtual part of your life.
God is not impressed with the appearance of your prayer life. He is interested in your heart. He longs to know you and to be known by you. He longs to provide for your needs and the desires of your heart.
I'm sure you take time to talk to family and friends each day. Set a time to talk to your Heavenly Father. find a quiet place with minimal distractions and tell God what is on your heart.
One more thought. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to "pray continuously, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." Prayer is the weapon God has given His children to wage war in the heavenlies. God loves it when we converse with Him; He has all the time we need. Anointed prayer rises above the need level.
